The Strategic Petroleum Reserve has changed the Sign In process for the Crude Oil Sales Offer Program (COSOP). Please read the following important information regarding the update.
Overview:
The SPR implemented Login.gov - a secure sign in service used by the public to sign in to participating government agencies.
When:
The change was completed on 4/20/23 and is in place now.
Why is This Change Being Made:
The Login.gov process provides a more secure sign in process that includes Multi-factor Authentication. In addition to your password, Login.gov requires that you set up a secondary authentication method to keep your account secure. Click the following link to learn more about Login.gov Authentication Options.
How Will This Affect Me:
You are now required to use your Login.gov account to Sign In to the COSOP application. Using your Login.gov account is the only way to access the application.
What Action Do I Need To Take:
If you do not already have a Login.gov account, create an account on the Login.gov Create Account site using the email address associated with your COSOP account.
What If I Already Have a Login.gov Account:
As long as the Login.gov email address is the same email address associated with your COSOP account, no action is required. Use your existing Login.gov account to access COSOP.
