Louisiana Regional Science Bowl
March 6, 2010

STUDENT INFORMATION

This year's Louisiana Regional Science Bowl will be held Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Tulane University.  Teams from across the state will compete to represent the State in the National Science Bowl® finals to be held April 24 - May 4, 2010, in Washington, D.C.  At the national competition, the top two teams in each division will earn a monetary prize for their schools.  The top five teams will receive prizes and the opportunity to visit International or other DOE offices to experience hands-on science activities.  Teams for the regional competition are being selected on a first-come basis.  We expect the slots to fill quickly, so please register as soon as possible.  The Registration deadline is February 13, 2010.  In addition to the registration, each student participant must submit a parent consent form and each participant and coach must submit a medical release form also by February 20, 2010.

Competition is in the form of a morning round-robin session and an afternoon elimination tournament.  Teams consist of six people from one high school:  five students, one of whom is an alternate; and a coach, usually a science or math teacher.  Sample questions are available on the websites:  http://www.spr.doe.gov/ScienceBowl/ and http://www.scied.science.doe.gov/nsb.

We are proud to sponsor academic competition through the National Science Bowl®, and hope to have your school's participation.  If you have any questions or wish to register a team, please call (504) 734-4565, or Fax (504) 818-5565.
